Solutions for optimal wound care

In our Coloplast Wound Care portfolio we offer a broad range of high quality solutions for optimal wound care management of your patients. Read more about our wound care solutions

Our product solutions support the management of a broad range of wounds; from non-infected, infected or painful wounds to low, medium and high exuding wounds.

Wound healing

Wound healing is influenced by underlying etiology such as diabetes or arterial or venous insufficiency. These conditions must be considered and, if possible, treated to achieve wound progress.

Important factors for local wound care are:

  • Tissue debridement.
  • Reduction in bacterial burden.
  • Exudate management.
  • Pain management

The right dressing choice will reduce the risk of exudate leakage and maceration and create a moisture balance that improves healing.

Coloplast offers high quality wound care products to support all these needs.

Our silver dressings and solutions give you the performance you need to treat infected wounds and wounds at risk of infection. By providing superior absorption of exudate and attacking the broadest range of bacteria, Biatain® silver dressings give you the performance you need to treat infected wounds and wounds at risk of infection.

The Biatain silver range of antimicrobial dressings has been clinically proven to help infected wounds heal faster.(1,2,10) That’s why from both a clinical and cost perspective, the Biatain silver dressing range is the gold standard of silver dressings.

Patented silver complex

All Biatain silver dressings contain a patented silver complex that releases silver ions into the wound according to the amount of exudate present. The more exudate present, the more silver is released directly into the wound bed.

Superior absorption enables more effective exudate management, with sustained silver release that continues for up to seven days. This creates the optimal conditions for faster healing of infected and non-healing wounds.(1-10)

Effective against all common bacteria

Independent studies have proved that Biatain silver dressings are effective on all bacteria commonly found in infected non-healing wounds.(4,5) Biatain silver dressings attack the broadest range of bacteria, including P. Aeruginosa, VRE, ESBL, and the highly resistant MRSA.(3,4)

Painful wounds

Managing painful wounds

Biatain® Ibu is the first and only dressing ever to combine moist wound healing with local release ibuprofen to the wound. Safety and performance have been documented in double-blind comparative studies (2-4). Read on to learn more about Coloplast dressings for painful wounds

People with wounds often suffer from constant pain. Constant wound pain not only affects quality of life, it also slows down the wound healing process.

Biatain Ibu is an absorbent polyurethane foam that contains 0.5 mg/cm2 of ibuprofen homogeneously dispersed throughout the foam matrix (1). Biatain Ibu is the first and only dressing ever to combine moist wound healing with local release of a pain reliever (1-2).

Documented safety and performance

In addition to the advantages of the soft and flexible absorbent foam, Biatain Ibu releases ibuprofen evenly into the wound when the dressing is in contact with wound exudate. This may help ease pain from the wound during wear and at dressing change. Safety and performance of Biatain Ibu has been documented by the largest randomised, comparative clinical trials ever performed on a wound dressing.
